The "Grandma Cure"

Okay, so Jackie stops by today and says "Quiet Mom, I just got her to sleep finally." Well, with one teenager with a telephone and an iPod, a hubby with a remote control, a terrior dog who doesn't like people coming or going and, of course, an all too excited Grandma to see her little one, there is no such thing as "quiet" in my house!!

Keyara woke up briefly, but all it took was 2 minutes in Grandma's arms and she was settled in and quiet and off to snoozing! We had a nice little visit with her.

All it took was a little bit of the "Grandma Cure". Grandma's can fix all that's wrong! :) (unless it involves power tools!)

I took her for her first shopping trip!!!!

Keyara and Grandma went to KMart today to get something for Mommie and wound up in the clothing section shopping!!!

Peanut was born so tiny that 0-3 months clothes are too big on her. She has nothing to wear out of the house and Grandma found a stupendous sale so we went crazy!! Well, not that crazy, I have a limit. But, can't beat $2 and $4 for outfits!!!

She went home yesterday .....

.... and I had to snag a "Grandma fix" today! We went to Walmart for the ever important "diaper run". LOL Grandma walked around the store with baby in arms while Mom & Dad shopped for necessities. She's so tiny!! She feels like she weighs less than a bag of sugar but she's actually 7 lbs 1/2 oz now. She had her little hattie on with matching mitts and the way they were laying, they looked like paddles and I was thinking she would break out into the Lollipop song at any time.

Here's some getting ready to go home pics.

Mommie was brushing Keyara's hair and girly girl grabbed at the brush and started helping. Oh no, I hope this isn't a glimpse into the future!!

Except for her little socks and jacket, baby girl is dressed and ready for heading home. She's so tiny, Newborn outfit is practically swimming on her!!

She's SO overworked!! LOL We pooped baby girl out just getting her dressed.

Call for my Limo, I'm dressed and ready to blow this scene!" We got her all dressed into all her gear and she was a wiggler anxious to get out!!

Finally!! We're outta here!!! Heading home to a real bed!! And some much needed sleep for Mommie and me!! YEY!

Okay, I'm hooked!!

I can honestly say her mother was never this small. But call me a prejudice Grandma, I think she is just hands down gorgeous!

Oh the scrapbooking possibilities!!

She's here!!!!

Introducing Keyara Veriana!!!

She was born at 2:57 pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs 8.5 oz and was 20.5" long.

Mommie is resting comfortably and grandma is so excited!

The delivery wasn't too long with no complications.

She's in labor!!!

Got the call at 6 am that her water broke and she was at the hospital. They were giving her Pitosin at 8 am.

I'm going to be a Grandma today!!

I told her it has to be a girl because it's gonna be born on a "22" (think ballerina tutu). If it was born on 1-23, it would have been a boy (think football -- 1--2--3--hike!).

Okay, so I'm a dork! Let's hope the kid doesn't hold that against me -- her mother hasn't!! :D

The shower went well!!

Well, as you can see, Great Grandma to be (aka Oma) made it and the shower went on with much fun!! Jackie was blessed beyond any expectation by friends, family and the ladies of our church. She is now fully equipped to have this baby. Well, as much as we can do for her -- the rest is up to her. Thankfully, she is holding on (in pain still but no hard labor yet). She's just hoping that the baby doesn't hold out until her birthday (2/1).

And, yes I know, the date on the camera was wrong -- can't go back and do-over. LOL C'est la vie! Can't have brains AND beauty!! hehehe

The cake was made by our Pastor!! Great cake Pastor June!!

PPhheeww!!

Against all odds, my Mother is making the trip from New Jersey to North Carolina on a train that is already delayed 3.5 hours because of Inaugural preparations. Now, against all odds means she has Emphazema, COPD, is traveling with oxygen and is handicapped. All this because she wants to be at her oldest grandaughter's Baby Shower. This will be her first great-grandchild, so she is very excited (as are we).

What was supposed to be a 1:30 am arrival has turned into a 4:40 am arrival time (as of now). Thankfully, because of her handicap status and because of her oxygen transport, she has a roomette so she is at least comfortable for the trip but still frustrating all the same.

This is torture!!

She thought she was leaking fluid so she went to the ER. They determined she wasn't but her anxiety brought her contractions to 2 - 5 mins apart!!! She's now just over 2cm dilated and, once she calmed down, her contractions went back to 10 mins apart. But!! This time they didn't give her the pill to stop the contractions!! YEY!!! They said they'll be seeing her soon. Hope not too soon!! We've got the Baby Shower planned for Sunday afternoon and her grandmother is due in extremely early Saturday morning. I would like for her to be here for the birth of her great-granchild but I would also like my daughter to be at her Baby Shower!

(we could always move it to the hospital!) hehehe

Anxiously Awaiting!!

How is it my heart jumps every time the phone rings?? I walk around with the portable phone everywhere I go. I don't want to miss the call!!

My daughter is pregnant and due January 27, 2009 but she's already gone into labor once and they had to stop labor because she still had 7 weeks to go. Well, now "Grandma" is anxiously awaiting her first grandchild.

AArrgghhh!!!! It's almost as though I was pregnant again!! I can't stand this wait!!
